In order to master their own domain, elite athletes are required to elevate their greatest aspirations to new levels.

Oftentimes, this means setting goals nobody thought could be achieved and then going out and completing them.

The best of the best are always the ones who don’t just achieve these lofty expectations, but surpass them.

Ronan MacPhail-Silver of the Metro Toronto Wildcats of the OVFL is reaching for the stars.

Not only does MacPhail-Silver hope to captain his high school senior football team in the fall of 2014, but he also plans on parlaying that captaincy into next year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) where he hopes to become the Defensive MVP.

On his way to these milestones already with a successful campaign in the OVFL, MacPhail-Silver is optimistic about his future and the current strides he’s making.

With an even greater dedication to fitness this summer, MacPhail-Silver is seeing the results.

“I’m going to the gym regularly to raise my level of play,” he said. “As a result my stats have improved significantly. I have received positive feedback from my coaches about the improvements in my game.”

Staying grounded, the young defensive back admits these strides wouldn’t have been possible without a positive experience at the OPC.

More than anything, the budding young football player credits the consistently higher level of play on display at the OPC for forcing him to take his game to another level.

“I learned that it is actually not impossibly to make it to the next level of football,” MacPhail-Silver acknowledged, noting that there was a time when he had doubts about his ability to rise to the challenge.

It’s by playing the game at a higher level than he did the last one that MacPhail-Silver insists will allow him to attain his lofty goals.

Or maybe even surpass them.
