Written by Lucas Wilson Langford ā Victoriaās Westshore Rebels have announced that Hunter Lake will be continuing his football career at Chabot College in northern California. Lake spent five seasons with Rebels as both a QB and a receiver, but has been recruited to play receiver for the Chabot Gladiators, and will join the team for the 2016 season.

In his final season as a Rebel, Lake predominantly played receiver, putting up 51 receptions for 708 yards and four touchdowns. He was rewarded for his play by being named to the 2015 BCFC All-Star Team. Lake also spent a lot of his career as a Rebel at QB, throwing for 2762 yards and 18 touchdowns in the past two seasons.

Lake is thrilled at the opportunity to play football in the U.S. āIt has always been my dream to play ball in America,ā said Lake, āItās more than a game down there. Itās a way of life.ā As Lake moves forward in his career, he is grateful for the time he spent with the Rebels. āI feel lucky to have been part of the Rebels organization,ā added Lake, āAlong with great coaching, we have an amazing facility and a great support staff that Victoria has accumulated in the last few years. Itās already pushing players to collegiate and professional levels of competition.ā

Rebels head coach, JC Boice, believes Lakeās opportunity is well deserved. āHe's a great kid, a very solid football player and has worked very hard to earn this opportunity,ā said Boice, āHe has all the tangibles that programs in the U.S. are looking for: talent, strong work ethic and a coachable spirit.ā Boice also believes that Lake playing for Chabot is a strong sign for the Rebels. āI could not think of a better person than Hunter to be representing the Rebels, and the opportunities that athletes now have by being developed in the Rebel program,ā added Boice.

Chabot College is located in Hayward, California, which is just outside of San Francisco. The Gladiators play in the Northern California Football Conference of the California Community College Athletics Association. Notable alumni include San Diego Chargers wide-receiver Stevie Johnson, and Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost.
