Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
Last week, CFC #35 St Roch Ravens travelled to London to take on the CFC#21 St. Thomas Aquinas Flames at the Western’s TD Waterhouse Stadium.
The game was supposed to be played as a FNL showcase game on Friday at 8pm but due to a lightning storm the game was rescheduled to Sat Sept 6th at 9:00am . Western Mustangs coach Chris Bertoia was instrumental in the planning and execution of the event that was a great experience for both teams.
The Ravens got off to a quick start as they scored on their first drive down the field when quarterback Kyle Gouveia hooked up with Nick Adeyeye on a seven yard touchdown pass. On the Flames next possession, the Roch defense got a two and out with Jamaal Nkrumah taking the punt all the way back on a 68 yard punt return touchdown.
The Ravens added to their lead in the beginning of the second quarter when Nkrumah caught a deep ball and ran it in for a 76 yard touchdown to make the score 21-0. The Flames forced two turnovers late in the half and punched in two touchdowns to cut the lead to 24-13 at halftime.
In the second half the Roch D stepped up and Gouveia found Julian Mitchell for a 34 yard touchdown to seal it for the Ravens.
Thanks to the Western Mustangs and the Flames coaches and players for this memorable experience for St. Roch.
