Tre Ford’s two yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter propelled CFC#24 A.N Myer Marauders to a 39-31 OFSAA Bowl win over Adam Scott Lions earlier this afternoon at McMaster’s Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.
Today’s win is the first one for the Marauders in this, their first appearance in the OFSAA Bowl Festival Series.
The Marauders opened the scoring in the first quarter as Ford connected with Michael Casciano for 12 yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Joshua Paterson added a 25 yard field goal.
Parker Sands got the Lions on the scoreboard as he sprinted down the field for a 68 yard major. Devin Claypole tallied a major on a 65 yard punt return to give the Lions the lead in the second quarter 14-10.
The Marauders would respond with two majors just before the half. Zyer Harris sneaked into the end zone for a 1 yard score while Tre Ford connected with Tyrrell Ford for a 21 yard touchdown/
At halftime, the Marauders enjoyed a 24-14 lead.
In the second half, Harris dashed into the end zone for a three yard touchdown score to strengthen the Marauders lead 33-14. The Lions reduced the deficit as Logan White scored on a 70 yard kickoff return in the final frame.
Tre Ford responded with that two yard major to extend the Marauders lead 39-23.
The Lions tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter. Jack Knox connected with Claypole for a 12 yard major. However, the comeback fell short.
Tre Ford completed 20 passes in 29 attempts and two touchdowns. Harris scored two rushing touchdowns, had 48 rushing yards as well as 57 yards on three receptions for the Marauders. In addition to his touchdown, Casciano racked up 84 yards on four receptions. On defence, Austin Potter led the way with four tackles.
As for the Lions, Knox completed 11 passes in 20 attempts, one touchdown and threw two interceptions. Sands scored a touchdown and rushed for 85 yards on seven receptions. Claypole tallied two majors and had 40 yards on four receptions. Max Maloney led the Lions defence with six tackles.
