RECAP: Hyman powers CFC#43 Gryphons to first ever OFSAA Bowl victory [stats]

Mekhi Hymann was an unstoppable offensive beast on Wednesday.

Hyman scored three touchdowns and rushed for 112 yards on fifteen carries to power CFC#43 Chaminade Gryphons to a 35-7 victory over Sir Allan MacNab Lions in the OFSAA Bowl Festival series at McMaster’s Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

This was the Gryphons first ever OFSAA Bowl win.

The Lions opened up the scoring in the first quarter as Jake Williams connected with Tyler Ternowski for a 15 yard touchdown to give the team an early 7-0  lead.

However, the Gryphons responded as Hyman dashed into the end zone for a two yard major in the second quarter.

At halftime, both teams were tied 7-7.

In the second half, the Gryphons scored four unanswered touchdowns.  Pivot Esson Hamilton scored on a two yard rushing major while Hyman sprinted into the end zone for a six yard touchdown to strengthen the Gryphons lead to 21-7 after three quarters of play.

In the final frame, Paolo Caprara scored on a six yard run while Hymann added his third score of the day, a 38 yard rushing touchdown to seal the victory.

Hamilton completed five passes in seven attempts and a rushing touchdown for the Gryphons.  Gabriel Pallotto led the defence as he recorded two sacks and registered three tackles in the win.

As for the Lions, Jordan Banman led the way with six tackles.
