RECAP: Montemiglio, CFC 100 Normandin & Betts lead Spartiates to semis, CFC 100 Joseph shines in Cougars win

It was the CFC 100 Louis Mathieu Normandin and Edouard Montemiglio show at CEPSUM.

Montemiglio scored three touchdowns and rushed for 109 yards on 15 carries while Normandin tallied two majors and racked up 106 yards on six receptions as Vieux-Montreal Spartiates cruised to a 34-3 victory over Levis- Lauzon Faucons to advance to the CEGEP Division 1 semi-finals.

Frederic Paquette Perreault completed 18 passes in 31 attempts for 238 yards and two passing touchdowns.

Mathieu Betts

CFC 100 Mathieu Betts was a beast on defence as he recorded five sacks and added 6.5 tackles. Felix Pelletier and Allan Lambert each caught an interception.  Pelletier, Kamba-Manueli Katchelewa and Enock Makonzo each recorded a sack.

As for the Faucons, Jean-Philippe Levesque led the way with 9.5 tackles.  Louis-Charles Moisan added a field goal in the loss.

The Spartiates will battle Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CNDF) on Saturday at Seminaire Saint Francois in one of two semi-finals.  Kickoff is 7:00pm.

CHAMPLAIN-LENNNOXVILLE COUGARS 32, MONTMORENCY NOMADES 9:

At Coulter Field, CFC 100 Cedric Joseph rushed for 136 yards on 22 carries as Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars coasted to a 32-9 win over Montmorency Nomades.

Thomas Bertrand-Hudon, Philippe Lessard-Vezina and Yanic Lessard each scored a touchdown for the Cougars. Lessard also racked up 82 yards on six receptions in the victory.

On defense, Alain Cimankinda recorded two sacks and registered 8.5 tackles.  Antoine Roberge caught an interception while CFC 100 Frederik Robitaille, Etienne Veilleux and Kevin Dossou each recorded a sack. Dominic Brazeau added 6.5 tackles.

Faheen Andy Jean-Pierre tallied the lone major for the Nomades.  Samuel Rossi added 7.5 tackles in the loss.

The Cougars will face Vanier Cheetahs on Saturday at Vanier College.  Game start is 6:00pm.
