ONT (Ham Public recap): Westdale dominates Delta’s force

Last Thursday, Westdale faced off against Delta on home turf, looking for a bounce back victory after a hard loss the week before against the Waterdown Warriors.

Coming into this game, the Westdale squad was looking to take out there anger on Deltas force. But knowing Delta’s playing style, they knew they were in for a brawl.

Now, with the Warrior kickoff on the field, the ball was sent deep by Matt Oliver to start off the game and concealed in Delta territory.

But with Delta’s offence taking the field, The Warrior defense had to hold their ground. And that is exactly what they did, pushing Delta to a three and out and forcing them to punt, giving the ball to a motivated Westdale offence willing to take their anger out on the closest target, which happened to be Deltas defense.

With Malvolta and his offence moving the ball, they were like a ‘well oiled machine’, first down after first down all the way down the field. And after a well fought series Westdale struck first with a fifteen yard run to the end zone by #22 Ethan Paxton (picture). Then adding on the one point convert by Matt Oliver to make it 7-0.

Then after several downs by the Delta offence which were stuffed by the Warrior defense, Westdales offence was back on the field marching the ball all the way down to end zone for a second touchdown touch down by Ethan Paxton. Changing the score to 14-0 after a second one point convert by Matt Oliver.

As the game moved on so did the Warriors score, adding a touchdown through the air to Joey Ricottone for a 60 yard catch and run for six and a touchdown off a QB bootleg by Joel Collins taking it in himself putting the score to 27-0 after a missed PAT attempt and a two point convert ran in by Tyler Walker.

Going into the half, Westdale was in the lead by a safe 27-0. But they knew if they wanted to truly test themselves they would have to keep putting on the pressure.

This is exactly what they did going into the third quarter as they put six more points on the board by a TD pass from Joel Collins to Charlie Taggart and after another two point conversion by Tyler Walker the score was up to 34-0.

Now into the fourth quarter, Westdale was still going full throttle, with a non-stop assault from both sides of the Warrior squad, offense and Defense. Having some amazing passes by Joel Collins, who was filling in for Sam Malavolta who had hurt his hand early in the game, and some superb runs by Jacob Wolfendon earning every single yard he gained, and Ethan Paxton who finished the game with 3 touchdowns and over 200 yards gained.

In the end, Westdale came out of this one with a score of 49-7, improving there standings and getting closer and closer to the championships. But were also missing many players such as Owen Angus-Yamata, Elric Allison who was hurt early in the game and Mitch Garland who will be returning to action next week and has been waiting patiently to get back in the game.
