The following are recaps from this past weekend’s action in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).
PFC WEEK 3:
Make it a clean sweep for the Winnipeg Rifles after a 28-22 win over the Calgary Colts on Sunday in the second half of a home and home.Β The Rifles beat the Colts 42-21 last week in Winnipeg.
On Sunday the Rifles had good production through the air as quarterback Tyler Vieira was 13 of 25 for 152 yards.Β Β Receiver Julian Banares threw a five yard touchdown pass to Alexander Tachinski on a trick play.Β Kurt Goodrich caught five passes for 78 yards, while Niclas Bembenek hauled in three passes for 56 yards.
On the ground the Rifles were led by Colton Smith and his 14 carries for 70 yards.
Special teams was huge scoring 18 points.Β Jason Kelly returned a missed field goal 127 yards for a touchdown setting a new Canadian Junior Football League record.Β Bard Mikoluff finished four of five in field goals, his longest was 42 yards.
Defensively the Rifles were led by linebacker Brady Carter and his 10 solo tackles and DB Braedy Will and his six tackles and a knockdown.Β The βDβ created two turnovers as Jason Kelly continued his big day with a pick while Bembenek recovered a fumble.
The Rifles (2-1) will stay on the road on Sunday at noon and visit the Edmonton Wildcats (2-0) part of the PFC Rivalry Week.Β Β Β The Rifles are 8-7 against the Wildcats since 2002 and are on a four game winning streak, outscoring them 185-78 since 2010.Β The last time the Cats beat the Rifles in Edmonton was 2008.
The Calgary Colts fall for the third time this season.
Most of the Colts production came from the ground and Cam Fox with his 27 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Matt Fortini finished seven of 19 for 89 yards and a five yard touchdown pass to Cole Bazinet.Β AJ Statz caught three balls for a team high 42 yards.
Defensively the Colts forced three fumbles as Vince Greco, Tariq Lachance and Akida Lewis recovered loose balls.Β Colton Burr recorded the lone sack and Jakub Jakoubek had a team high eight solo tackles.
The Colts (0-3) will host the Edmonton Huskies (1-1) on Saturday night part of the PFC Rivalry Week.Β Β All-time the Colts are 16-12 against the Huskies and 10-5 in Calgary.Β Kick-off on Saturday night is 7:00pm.

BCFC WEEK 6:
The lone game in the Conference over the Labour Day long weekend saw the Langley Rams dismantled the Kamloops Broncos 70-24.
The Rams tallied 482 yards of total offense, but also incurred 24 penalties for 185 yards.
The run game was dominating behind the Rams massive offensive line.Β Mario Narte rushed 13 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns while Ryan MacDonald carried the rock 12 times for 121 yards and a score.Β In total the Rams collected 313 yards on the ground.
Through the air quarterback Dylan Tucker completed nine of 12 for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Kyle Pich caught two of those majors and 77 yards. Malcolm Williams caught the other touchdown pass and three in the game.Β His major was the 26th of his junior career, moving him into fifth on the BCFC All-Time touchdown receiving record list.Β The leader is Ryan Schieman of the Okanagan Sun who caught 32 from 1998-2002.
The return game for the Rams continues to be scary.Β Daniel English returned a punt 86 yards for a touchdown on Sunday.Β John Beckerleg only saw one kick-off in his direction returning it 19 yards.
Defensively the Rams were as solid as they could be.Β They collected five sacks and forced three turnovers.Β Clovis Lumeka intercepted a pass and returned it 77 yards for a major and collected four solo tackles.Β Beckerleg made his CJFL leading fourth interception and Ethan Schulz recovered a fumble.Β Schulz, Alex Agnoletto and Brock Gowanlock each had sacks.Β Dylan Roper recorded a sack and share one with Agnoletto giving him a Conference high of seven.
The Rams (4-1) will travel to play the Okanagan Sun (4-1) in a slugfest for top spot on Saturday at 7:00pm in the BCFC Game of the Week.
The Kamloops Broncos lose their second straight and first on the road this season.Β Their run game struggled collecting just 84 yards.Β Jacob Palmarin rushed eight times for a team high 37 yards and Sheldon Brown carried four times, one of which was for a touchdown.
Quarterback Steve Schuweiler was 16 of 32 for 294 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns.Β Derek Yachison hauled in one of those majors and a game high eight passes for 135 yards.Β Colin Mather caught the other touchdown pass.
Mike Ochoa led the Broncos defense with eight solo tackles.
The Broncos (3-2) will play in Westshore on Saturday at 3:00pm against the Rebels (2-3).
