RECAP: Sos, CFC#14 Vikings thwart late comeback attempt to win second OFSAA Bowl [stats]

Dara Sos scored three touchdowns and rushed for 183 yards on 26 carries as CFC#14 A.B. Lucas Vikings defeated CFC#48 Paul Dwyer Saints yesterday at the OFSAA Bowl Festival Series at McMaster’s Ron Joyce Stadium.

This was the second OFSAA Bowl win for the Vikings. In, 2011, the team won the Western Bowl.

The Vikings took the lead early as Sos sprinted into the end zone for a 28 yard major.

However, the Saints replied minutes later in the first quarter as pivot Kyle Baronet found Tristan Park for a 16 yard touchdown reception.

At halftime, the Vikings enjoyed a 28-7 lead after scoring three consecutive touchdowns.  Sos tallied his second and third majors of the game ran into the end for a two yard and 45 yard score.  Soon after, Vikings quarterback Tristan Arndt connected with Cam Bailey for a six yard major.

In the third quarter, the Vikings extended their lead as Arndt found Scott Hutter for an 18 yard touchdown reception.

The Saints began to mount a comeback.  Park dashed into the end zone for a 17 yard major.  In the final frame, Vance Bundy scored on a 50 yard punt return.  Keegan Brand snuck into the end zone for a two yard touchdown but the comeback fell short.

Tristan Arndt OFSAA

Arndt completed nine passes in 12 attempts and had two passing touchdowns.  Hutter racked up 59 yards on three receptions while Jacob Misk amassed 65 yards on three receptions for the Vikings. Hutter also led the defence as he registered seven tackles.

As for the Saints, Kyle Baronet completed 17 passes in 26 attempts, had one passing touchdown, threw an interception and rushed for 63 yards on four carries.  Dawson Odei rushed for 71 yards on 10 carries while Bundy had 65 yards on seven receptions. On defence, Drue Moore led the way with eight tackles.
