RECAP: Spartiates & Cougars advance to Bol D’Or, CFC 100 Betts & Joseph shine

They needed overtime, but Vieux Montreal Spartiates are headed to the CEGEP Division 1 Bol D’Or Championship this upcoming weekend.

Edouard Montemiglio scored a touchdown and rushed for 135 yards on 39 carries as the Spartiates got past Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CNDF) 26-19 in one of two semi-finals.

CFC 100 Mathieu Betts and Julien Bourassa each tallied a major. CFC 100 Laurent Rondeau added three PAT’s.

Betts also recorded a sack and registered four tackles.  Umar Temoor added six tackles.  Xavier Angers-Gauthier caught two interceptions while CFC 100 Rondeau had one.

As for CNDF, Alexis Cote rushed for 101 yards on 27 carries while Simon Laplante had a 67 yard reception.

Samuel Maranda-Bizeau recorded a sack while Mathieu Boutin added six tackles in the loss.

The Spartiates advance to the Bol D’Or where they will battle 2013 Champions, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars.

Cedric Joseph 2014 CEGEP Playoffs

CFC 100 Cedric Joseph scored three touchdowns and rushed for 196 yards on 29 carries as the Cougars crushed Vanier Cheetahs 64-18 in the second semi-final.

Marc-Antoine Pivin tallied three majors and racked up 148 yards on five receptions.  CFC 100 Anthony Joyal, Guillaume Conraud-Ares and Bechir Janfaoui each scored a touchdown in the victory.

Pivot Michael Arruda had 199 passing yards and five passing touchdowns. Dominic Levesque added seven PAT’s.

CFC 100 Kevin McGee led the Cougars defense with seven tackles while Samuel Brodrique added six.  Adam Auclair, Shakiym Hoyte, Xavier Gilbert, Michael Asibuo and Dominick Brazeau each caught an interception. Alain Cimankinda, Guillaume Caron and Isaac Berglund each recorded a sack in the win.

Jamie Harry led the Cheetahs as he scored two touchdowns and amassed 138 yards on four receptions. Jordan Perrin Boutet caught an interception while Clement Lebreux and Bobby Lowe each recorded a sack.  Marc-Antoine Varin led the Cheetahs in tackles with nine and Brian Harelimana added eight in the loss.

Both the Cougars and Spartiates will battle for the Bol D’Or Championship on Saturday at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.  Kickoff is 3:00pm.
