HAMILTON Β β The Westdale Warriors captured their third straight Division-I junior football championship on Friday downing the Sir Allan MacNab Lions 13-6 at Mohawk Sports Park
The win marked the third straight year Westdale has won the Division-I junior title and it is their fifth title in six seasons.
Westdale grabbed a 13-0 lead before halftime powered by touchdowns by Nik Towsley and Spencer McKechnie. Origin Robinson added the conversion on the McKechnie touchdown.
MacNabβs Derek Baddley scored the game only major midway through the final half.
Just before half the game had to be suspended do to lightning and play resumed after a 45 minute delay.
In the Division-II final, Dundas Valley Secondary School scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to secure a 15-6 victory over Ancaster High School.
The Gryphons trailed 6-1 at halftime but roared back with touchdowns from Dan Dean and Mackenzie Wright. Β Wright also added a conversion while Jessie McGuire recorded a rouge to open the games scoring.
Ancasterβs lone touchdown came from Mitchell Hall.
