Recruiting Wrap: 6 ranked prospects plus 9 more announce CanWest commitment

The University of Alberta has signed another familiar face to their group.  Local wide receiver Caleb Akerley has chosen to sign with the Golden Bears.

“I got an offer close to home and I couldn’t pass that up,” he says.

Caleb started his football career with the Edmonton Mustangs (SWEMFA) for two years and then he moved on to the Millwoods Grizzlies (MMFA). Before his second year of Bantam, Caleb moved to St. Albert to finish his last year of minor football and then continued to Bellerose Composite High School (MEHSAA).

At the moment Caleb is unsure what he will be taking in university, but he has been looking into pursuing a degree in criminology.

Another Albertan has been added to the roster of the Alberta Golden Bears. Athlete Spencer Stanko has agreed to terms for the next season and beyond.

Spencer chose the university in Edmonton because it has world class academics. He adds, “I believe in their coaching philosophy, and their facilities are great.”

When he was on Lethbridge Collegiate (CCAA), Spencer had reps at running back, long snapper, defensive end, and kick returner.

Spencer is 5’11, 205lbs.

U SPORTS OFFERS 

The Alberta Golden Bears have added to their defense. Paul-Mario Nnamani will stay in Edmonton and become part of the Golden Bears.

Paul-Mario is a defensive back. He is 6’0, 165lbs.

The last four years Paul-Mario suited up for St. Francis Xavier in Edmonton (MEHSAA).

The University of Calgary has made another local signing. The Dinos have added linebacker Owen Porcu from Notre Dame High School (CCSD) and Mavericks Football (CPFA) in Calgary.

“I chose the University of Calgary because I believe it will be the best fit for my abilities and what I can do.”

Owen will be enrolling in sociology.

The Dinos are welcoming another homegrown talent to their roster. Local wide receiver CFC150 Ben Britton has signed with the University of Calgary.

Ben has most recently spent time in a spring league with the Calgary Wildcats (CSFA). He is a big target at 6’3, 200lbs.

The University of Calgary Dinos have signed a kicker/punter from Ontario. CFC10 Vince Triumbari will head west in 2021 from Hamilton to Alberta.

Vince played his high school football for the Cardinal Newman Cardinals (OFSAA). He stands at 6’0, 170lbs.

 

The Calgary Dinos have added to their defensive line with their latest addition. Calgarian Breck Leader is the newest member of the hometown team.

Breck played for Joane Cardinal (CSHSAA) in Calgary before making the transition to university ball.

Breck Leader should become a force on the d-line at 6’2, 310lbs.

U SPORTS CONSIDERATIONS

 

The University of British Columbia has signed an international student. In 2021, CFC100 Isaiah Knight will make the trip up north from Hagerstown, Maryland.

During his high school years Isaiah played for the St. James Saints (IPSL).

Isaiah is a running back. He stands at 6’1, 200lbs.

 

UBC will bring in a lineman from the island for the 2021 season. CFC150 Riley Scheffer will leave Vancouver Island for the mainland and become part of the Thunderbirds’ offensive/defensive lines.

Riley played high school football for the Belmont Bulldogs (BCSSFA) in Victoria, BC.

The 6’4, 250lb tackle/defensive end became part of the University of British Columbia’s football team on November 6th, 2020.

The UBC Thunderbirds have made another addition to their recruiting list. Sammy Okans will come to British Columbia from Toronto in 2021.

Sammy plays at two positions on the defense. His main position is outside linebacker, but he also sees time at strong safety.

Sammy Okans spent the last four years as a member of West Toronto Prep Golden Warriors (WPIAL).

The University of Manitoba will bring in a local quarterback for the 2021 season. Vincent Massey’s CFC100 Jordan Hanslip has committed to the Bisons.

“I chose the U of M because they have a great football program and great academics,” he replies.

Jordan has played for the Manitoba provincial team. He’s travelled all across the U.S with Recruit Ready, and he is currently the quarterback of the Vincent Massey Trojans (WHSFL). Jordan played his club football with the St. Vital Mustangs (MMFA).

The Manitoba Bisons have landed another Vincent Massey Trojan (WHSFL). Trey White will join teammate Jordan Hanslip in 2021 on the Bisons.

Trey will be a target for Hanslip. He is a 5’11, 145lbs wide receiver.

The University of Manitoba Bisons have made another local singing. CFC150 Matt Toyne will become part of the Bisons in 2021.

Matt is a big target at 6’1, 198 lbs. He will be an option for the offense at slot or wide receiver.

Matt Toyne played his high school football at Dakota Collegiate (WHSFL). He began his football career with the St. Vital Mustangs (MMFA).

The Saskatchewan Huskies have signed another wide receiver. Branson Pipko will head north after a stint with St. Thomas More (NAIS) in Connecticut.

Branson weighs in at 5’10, 175lbs.

Branson comes back to Saskatchewan where he spent the majority of his high school years with the Greenall Griffins (RIFL).

ADD YOUR CFC PROFILE

The University of Saskatchewan will be bringing in a student from Washington state in 2021. Noah Keys is the newest member of the Huskies.

Noah will leave the United States and head to Canada after playing football for Shorewood High School (WIAA) in Washington and C.M Russell High School (AA) in Montana.

At 6’3, 230lbs Noah should become a handful on the defensive line for the Huskies.
