Redmen now home for Handsworth Royal C

McGill welcomes a BC commit to their Class of 2017.

Davis Bonsall-Jeving, a centre from Handsworth Secondary School, is ready to move to the other side of the country to join the McGill Redmen.

Bonsall-Jeving, originally from North Vancouver, British Columbia, has been in and around the sport for five years. Now, he will have the opportunity to take his football career, and his academics, to the next level.

“I chose McGill because it’s the best school academic wise in Canada and one of the best institutions in the world,” he said. “As far as football, the facilities are world-class. The team is young and talented, which is an environment I know I can compete and excel in.”

For a team on the rise, there needs to be strong coaches at the helm. Bonsall-Jeving couldn’t agree more. “I can’t say a single bad thing about the coaching staff at McGill. Head Coach Hilaire is a very respected man amount the players and other staff for a very good reason. Sebastian Leveque is also a very good guy, and I am excited to play for all the coaches next year,” he said.

The Handsworth Royal (BC High School Football League) is interested in taking general arts before moving into political science in his second year. Standing at 6’0, 260lbs, he has been asked to play for Team BC and to compete in the Prospect Bowl in North Dakota where Canada took on the United States. In 2016, he was named an all-conference and North Shore all-star as a lineman.

“McGill is a program and school that is on the rise, and will do big things in the next couple years. The players and staff are also very friendly and made me feel at home before I have committed and made me part of the Redmen family,” Bonsall-Jeving said. “McGill football is on the come up, and I wanted to be a part of that.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
