Regina Rams Akiem Hicks goes 48th overall in UFL draft last night (video)

The United Football League (UFL) held its 2011 draft last evening and there was some ‘Canadian content’ in the draft. Regina Ram defensive tackle Akiem Hicks was drafted 48th overall (10th round) by the Omaha Nighthawks. Hicks played for the Rams in 2010 and played two seasons at Sacramento City College in 2007-08. Akiem was on the LSU Tigers (FBS) roster in 2009 but did not play.

A rookie, Hicks was a 2010 Canada West All-Star in his only season with the Rams. In eight games last fall, Hicks had 29 total tackles, four for loss, 1 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles.
