Regina recruit found ‘excellent opportunity’ at home (VIDEO)

Regina running back/receiver recently signs with CWUAA team.

Ryan Schienbein will begin his CIS journey in front of the hometown crowd.

Recently, the 5’9, 170 pound running back/receiver committed to the Regina Rams.  Schienbein will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

Ultimately, the reputation and tradition of excellence is what led to the Regina standout to commit to his home CIS team.

“The reason that I chose to commit to the Regina Rams organization is because they have been a highly successful football program and have had more than fifty former players move on to the professional ranks in the Canadian Football League since their inception,” explained Schienbein of his commitment.  “Also with the organizational changes, it seems like an excellent opportunity to start my CIS football career at home with an exceptional program. “

“I believe that the knowledge that Coach Gibson brings with his extensive experience in both the professional and collegiate levels will help me grow as a player along with hopefully winning a CIS National Championship.”

Schienbein has completed his high school career with Balfour Redmen of the Regina Intercollegiate Football League (RIFL). This past season, the offensive standout racked up 630 yards on 83 carries (average of 7.6 yards per carry) and scored six rushing touchdowns.

In addition to the Redmen, Schienbein has previously played in the Regina Minor Football for six years. Not only has he played at both running back and receiver positions, he has also played a significant role on special teams as a return specialist.
