Report: Carabins to lose game against Saint Mary’s

Several Quebec news sources are reporting that the RSEQ have told the Montreal Carabins that they will lose the game they played against the visiting St. Mary’s Huskies last Saturday. The Carabins won by a final score of 11 to 10 but used an ineligible player in the process.

John Bower, the director of programs for the RSEQ, said Tuesday the conference does not disclose disciplinary decisions until the school accepts the sanction. Montreal has up to 48 hours to appeals at its disposal and then the process can take weeks. Bower did confirm on Tuesday that Montreal had been informed of the RSEQ ruling.

The ineligible player is Mike Dubuisson who had an interception in the game. Dubuisson was a part of the infamous ‘brawl in the stands’ last season when the OFC St. Leonard Cougar players went into the stands at Ivor Wynne Stadium during a CJFL playoff game against the Hamilton Hurricanes. Players were to be sanctioned 3 games, and all leagues were to honour this sanction.

Because Dubuisson didn’t violate any CIS regulations, the discipline rests with the RSEQ, which adheres to Football Quebec rulings.

The AUS will take action after the final ruling has been accepted and disclosed.
