Report: Sewell, Plesius invited to Shrine Bowl?

CFC has been told that McMaster Offensive lineman Matt Sewell and Laval linebacker Frédéric Plesius will represent the CIS in this years East-West Shrine Bowl.  If this is the case it would be the first time since the CIS started sending players that the ‘WEST’ representative was not actually from Canada West.

Lynden Gaydosh, Kirby Fabien or Stefan Charles would be solid picks from Canada West.

Frédéric Plesius

In 2012, Plesius attended a rookie training camp held by the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League and was drafted in the second round (tenth overall) by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League in the 2012 CFL Draft.  He won the Presidents Trophy as top defensive player in the CIS in 2012.  Plesius also played for the Baylor University Bears, where he was a redshirt in 2008.

Matt Sewell

Sewell, a 6-foot-8, 330-pound specimen from Milton, Ont., was named an all-Canadian for the second year in a row in 2012.  The latest version of the ‘CFL scouting bureau‘ has Sewell ranked as the #2 prospect for the 2013 CFL draft.
