Recently, Brand completed a successful high school campaign with Paul Dwyer Saints of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA). During his time with the Saints, he was named LOSSAA Defensive MVP.

For his part, reputation played a factor in his decision.Β  After his official visit to the Waterloo, Ontario campus, he was hooked.

β€œI committed to Laurier because I was told such amazing things about the school itself from mentors at my high school,” explained Brand of his decision.Β  β€œI had two coaches who had played there which was also a big bonus for me because they knew what it is like playing their CIS career at WLU.”

β€œWhen I visited the campus, I knew that it was the place for me because of the strong community and great education. The thing that had me set on Wilfrid Laurier was the coaching staff. Β Β I knew that once I go in to training camp come summer I will begin to develop and fulfill my maximum potential as a player.”
