Reunion awaits for CEGEP recruit at McGill

CEGEP defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.

It was an β€œobvious” choice for Anthony Leclerc.

Recently, the 5’11, 190 pound defensive back (free safety) from L’ Ancienne-lorette, QuΓ©bec committed to the McGill Redmen.Β  Leclerc will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.

The irony of this decision is that the person who played a key role in recruiting Leclerc at McGill did the same thing when it came to his CEGEP recruitment process with Division 1 team, Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy (CNDF) – current Redmen Special Teams and Recruitment Coordinator Sebastien Levesque.

β€œThree years ago, I chose CNDF because of Sebastien Levesque convinced me that the Notre Dame was the right team for me and that the team would be way better in the future (They were in their first Division 1 season at the time),” recalled the defensive back.Β  β€œWhat happened was crazy, we went from a 3-7 team to a 7-2 Bol d’Or finalist in three years.”

β€œI believed in Seb and I’ve never regretted it. Now Sebastien offers me the same opportunity for university. I trust him a lot and I really liked the way Coach Ron [Hilaire] runs his defense; it matches with me. Also, McGill is an outstanding university on the academic point.”

Previous to CNDF, Leclerc suited up for RSEQ Juvenile Division 2 teamΒ Polyvalente Ancienne-lorette Athletics.
