Revenge is sweet for Varsity Ironmen

Over the last two years the only 3 games that the Ironmen have lost in regulation time has been at the hands of the London Falcons. One of those losses coming last week with the Falcons edging the Ironmen 11-7.

However, all that has now been erased as the Ironmen travelled to London for the first round of playoffs to beat the Falcons convincingly 20-3 at Western University. “We had a game plan and executed it perfectly” commented coach Underhill as the offence pounded the ball down the throat of the Falcons defence. Touchdowns were recorded by QB Zach Lascalle one yard plunge, and an 18 yard scamper by RB Ryan Silvestri. The return of RB Ryan Kotar was a crucial part of the Ironmens success. The Defence showed the league why they are the best in the province, holding the London run game to negative yards and forcing eight turnovers. DB Steve Ventresca led the way with two interceptions a fumble recovery and an onside kick recovery. Dylan Campbell had two interceptions, and Matt Rowan tallied one. LB Renato Rossi had a fumble recovery, and the D-Line led by Matt Brady and Anthony Dinguanna manned the steel curtain with both recording multiple sacks. The Ironmen now take their momentum to the Soo to take on the Sabercats who defeated the Ironmen 8-7 in double overtime.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
