RICHMOND MINOR OFFERS SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL PROGRAM


Richmond Minor Football league will be offering something new and exciting this spring — Flag Football. Originally an in-school program, NFL Flag Football has grown to become a community based core recreation program.

Flag League is available across Canada, and each year introduces thousands of boys and girls to the fundamentals of football. These fundamentals — running, throwing and defence — are the basis of the easy to learn NFL Flag Football rules.

Richmond has had a rich football past with almost every senior high and junior high school fielding teams.

Richmond Minor Football will be offering three divisions for boys and girls to participate in U13, U15 and U18.

The season will consist of six consecutive jamborees beginning Sunday May, 2 each team plays three or four 25-minute games with four games being played simultaneously width-wise on a CFL size field. The final jamboree will be held in Kelowna for the B.C.Provincial Championships.

The provincial U15 winning team will be provided with funding by Football Canada for six players, one coach and one manager for transportation, accommodations and food at the Canadian National U15 Championships at Carleton University in Ottawa, August 20 to 22.
