Rouge et Or’s Class of 2017 grows by 2

Laval brings in two commits from Québec.

Both Louis-Pierre Ouellet, a defensive back from Campus-Notre-Dame-de-Foy and Vincent Brenton-Robert, a running back from Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon, already have connections to their new team, the Laval Rouge et Or.

Louis-Pierre Ouellet

Louis-Pierre Ouellet already knows Québec City quite well, having called it home his entire life. It was in this city that he learned about football. “Since I was very young, I went to see games with my father and it was at this moment that my passion for this sport occurred,” he said. “Moreover, since I’ve played football, I was always coached by former players from Laval, so it was a dream to join the team.”

Ouellet has had a small taste of Laval football, but now he will get to play under the team’s coaches, who he called “extremely complete.”

In his 11-year career, he has played high school ball at Séminaire des Pères Maristes (RSEQ) before transferring to Le Blizzard du Séminaire Saint-François (RSEQ). With Maristes, he won a championship in 2012. In his third and fourth year of high school, he was named defensive player of the year. He was also apart of the Le Notre-Dame du CNDF (RSEQ Division 1), a team that won the 2016 Bol d’Or.

The future civil engineering student originally played as a defensive lineman in high school before switching to inside linebacker. When he reached CNDF, he played outside linebacker for his first two years before playing as a free safety in his senior year. He is 5’10, 185lbs.

Vincent Brenton-Robert

Vincent Brenton-Robert isn’t the first member of his family to join the Rouge et Or. His older brother, Jonathan, is currently on the team as a receiver. There is nothing quite like playing with your brother on the field, but the boys from Saint-Anselme, Québec, will have the chance to do it again at the U Sports level. (Saint-Anselme is a small community south of Québec City.)

“I chose to commit to that school (Laval) because that’s one of the best universities in the country and I really like the atmosphere that surrounds the football team,” said Brenton-Robert, the future math student. “They have a really good coaching staff, one of the best.”

Brenton-Robert had already suited up alongside his brother while playing with Les Faucons du Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon (RSEQ Division 1). In high school, he played with Les Lynx d’école secondaire de Saint-Anselme (RSEQ). He is 5’10, 170lbs and has won four championships in high school.
