RSEQ: Jordan Heather, Max Caron and Nathan Taylor named players of the week

Montreal, September 19, 2011 – Quarterback Jordan Heather of the Bishop’s Gaiters, linebacker Max Caron of the Concordia Stingers and cornerback Nathan Taylor of the Concordia Stingers, have been selected as the RSEQ university football league’s players of the week for the period ending September 18th, 2011.

Highlights : Jordan Heather was very efficient in his native province on Saturday as the Bishop’s Gaiters defeated the Mount Allison Mounties 36-23. The Oromocto, N.B., QB threw 459 passing yards, just a yard short of his school record set in 1991 by Silvio Martel. Heather completed 26 passes on 41 attempts with three touchdown passes, all in the second half. This marks a second 300+ yards game for the Gaiters’ pivot.

Highlights : Max Caron was a key factor in the Concordia Stingers’ 55-9 pounding of the St.-F.X. X-Men. The linebacker completed eight solo tackles in this one-way affair. With a minute to play in the opening half, Caron forced a fumble and recovered the ball, leading to a Stingers’ touchdown with 34 seconds to go. The Kingston, Ont., native contributed to his team’s restraining of the X-Men’s offence to 240 yards.

Highlights : Nathan Taylor was also a major player in the Concordia Stingers’ win. The Lasalle, Que., player picked up a missed 35 yards field goal attempt and returned the pigskin into the opposite end zone for a 120 yards touchdown. This score at 6:01 of the second quarter gave the Stingers a 31-9 lead. The corner back also completed a solo tackle in the victory that moved up the Stingers into second place in the RSEQ standings.
