RSEQ Juvenile 1 Week 7: Monet propels Cactus past Eagles in overtime

It came down to overtime to decide the winner in one of three CFC TOP 50 battles in RSEQ Juvenile 1 action this past weekend.

When it was all said and done, CFC#10 College Notre Dame Cactus hung on to edge CFC#19 College Jean-Eudes Eagles.

Nicolas Monet was the hero for the Cactus as he rushed into the end zone for a 30 yard touchdown score in the extra frame.

Joel Bouchard was unstoppable on the Cactus offense as he scored four rushing majors and amassed 298 rushing yards on 50 carries to lead the Cactus.Β  Simon Desjardins also tallied a major and had 134 receiving yards on eight catches.

Quarterback Thomas-Charles Paradis had 15 completions in 26 attempts for 208 rushing yards, one passing touchdown and an interception in the victory.Β  Additionally, he had a rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Nicolas Prince was in beast mode as he registered 15.5 tackles (11 solo, nine assisted). Julian LeguΓ©hennec added 11 tackles (seven solo, eight assisted) while Guillame Beland chipped in with nine tackles (seven solo, four assisted) and caught an interception in the game.

As for the Eagles, receiver Shawn Lafortune scored three touchdowns and racked up 137 receiving yards on nine catches (average of 15.2 yards per catch). Moreover, Julien Boudreau-Plouffe tallied two majors and 96 receiving yards on seven carries (average of 13.7 yards per catch) Running back Dean Dalaroy ran into in end zone once and racked up 204 rushing yards.Β  Pivot Zacharie Quiviger had 23 completions in 43 attempts for 310 passing yards, five touchdowns and one interception in the loss.

With the win, the Cactus is tied with CFC#5 Seminaire Saint-Francois Blizzard with a 6-1 record.Β  As a result of the loss, the Eagles are in a tie with two other teams for third place in the division with a 403 record.

SEMINAIRE SAINT-FRANCOIS BLIZZARD 31, SAINT-JEAN EUDES CONDORS 14:

In the second of two CFC TOP 50 games this past weekend, CFC#10 Seminaire Saint-Francois Blizzard cruised by CFC#22 Saint-Jean Eudes Condors 31-14.

Guillaume Vermette scored a major and rushed for 135 yards.Β  Additionally, Christopher Landry, Patrick Serre and Felix Hamel all tallied majors for the Blizzard.

Defensively, Thomas Gagnon (three solo, two assisted), Louis-Philippe Labbe (two solo, four assisted) and Sean Cote (two solo, four assisted) each registered four tackles in the game.Β  Cote recorded three sacks while Eric Verreault and Labbe had single sacks.

The Blizzard now have a 6-1 mark on the season and are tied atop of the RSEQ Juvenile Division 1 standings with the Cactus.

Gabriel Brault scored the both touchdowns for the Condors.Β  Pivot David Pelletier had 13 completions in 22 attempts for 140 passing yards and two interceptions in a losing cause.Β  The Condors slide into a third place tie with two other teams with a 4-3 record.

ACADEMIE SAINT-LOUIS ARSENAL 39, CURE-ANTOINE LABELLE WOLVES 21:

In the third CFC TOP 50 battle, quarterback Zachary Cloutier had 18 completions in 34 attempts for 257 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown to lead CFC#26 Academie Saint-Louis Arsenal to a 39-21 victory over CFC#35 Cure-Antoine Labelle Wolves.

Philippe Vezina-Lessard tallied a major, rushed for 107 rushing yards and amassed 92 receiving yards on three catches (average of 30.7 yards per carry).Β  David Cote also scored a touchdown and had 89 receiving yards on four catches (average of 22.3 yards per catch).

On defense, Louis-Philippe Belanger registered 10 tackles (five solo, 10 assisted) and recorded a sack for the Arsenal who are currently in sole possession of second place in the standings with a 5-2 record.

Ryth-Jean Giraud scored three touchdowns and had 118 receiving yards on four catches (average of 29.5 yards per catch) as well as 162 rushing yards on nine carries (average of 18 yards per carry) for the Wolves.

Kean Harilemana registered seven tackles (six solo, two assisted), Philippe Michaud added six tackles (six solo, one assisted) and Luc-Ralph Lazarre recorded a sack for the defense.

With the loss, the Wolves are in a three way tie for third in the division with a 4-3 record.

ACADEMIE LES ESTACADES 42, ECOLE JACQUES-ROUSSEAU 0:

Antoine Mailhot scored two touchdowns including one off a 90 yard kickoff return to help Academie Les Estacades to a 42-0 crushing of Ecole Jacques-Rousseau.

Alexis Daigneault, William Plante, Felix Legers and Francis Blais also tallied majors for Les Estacades, who are now 3-4 on the season.

Defensively, Tchad Ayotte registered eight tackles (six solo, four assisted) and recorded a sack to lead the unit.Β  Tommy St.Pierre added three sacks and Mathieu Berthiaume chipped in with one.Β  Jeremy Berube caught an interception in the game.

As for Jacques-Rousseau, Guillaume Hastir registered seven tackles (four solo, six assisted) in a losing cause.

With the loss, the team is now is still winless and basement dwellers of the RSEQ Juvenile 1 Division with a 0-7 record.

ROGER COMTOIS 49, TRIOLET HARFANGS 21:

Quarterback Jonathan Bradet had 15 completions in 32 attempts for 275 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, one interception and two rushing touchdowns as Roger Comtois got past Triolet Harfangs 49-21.

With the victory, Roger Comtois improve to 2-5 on the season while the Harfangs slide to 1-6 with the loss.

Jeremy Godin-Rochette, tallied two majors and 92 receiving yards on five catches (average of 18.4 yards per catch).Β  Additionally, Christophe Tremblay-Harnois had a touchdown score and also amassed 92 receiving yards on five catches (average of 18.4 yards per catch).

On defense, Felix Kaine scored a major.Β  Alex Francoeur registered 10 tackles (seven solo, six assisted) while Samuel Verrault Β chipped in with 9.5 tackles (five solo, nine assisted).Β  Thomas Chiavon, Charles Martel and Guillaume Caron each caught interceptions in the game.

As for the Harfangs, Jean-Simon Gouin-Verrette scored a rushing touchdown and racked up 81 receiving yards on four catches (average of 20.3 yards per catch).Β  Tristan Peloquin and Gabriel Goudreau also tallied majors in a losing cause.

Harfangs pivot Maxime Bouffard had 16 completions in 33 attempts for 240 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and three interceptions.

Defensively, Boka-CΓ©dric-Axel Kouao registered 12 tackles (11 solo, two assisted) and recorded a sack for the Harfangs.Β  Emanuel-Alexandre Carvajal Pirlet, William Pedneault, Dominic Brazeau and Vincent Ducharme also recorded sacks while Tristan Nkoghe caught two interceptions.
