RSEQ Juvenile 1 Week 8: Upsets galore

Upsets was the key word this past weekend in RSEQ Juvenile 1 Week 8 action.

Current CFC# 9 Academie Saint-Louis Arsenal crushed former CFC#5 Seminaire Saint-Francois Blizzard 47-3.

Philippe Lessard-Vezina led the Arsenal’s offensive explosion as he scored three rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and amassed 178 rushing yards on 18 carries.  Mathieu Simard tallied a major while Christophe Bouchard caught an interception and ran it into the end zone for a score.

Quarterback Zachary Cloutier had 14 completions in 24 attempts for 172 passing yards and one passing touchdown.

Defensively, Christophe Poulin-Lapierre registered 7.5 tackles (four solo, seven assisted) while Samuel Tremblay and Philippe Vo each caught interceptions.

The Arsenal now moves into a three way logjam for top spot in the division with the Blizzard and College Notre Dame Cactus, who all have 6-2 records.

For the Blizzard, Patrick Serre accumulated 46 receiving yards on three catches.  Olivier Flamand registered 7.5 tackles (five solo, four assisted) while Nicolas Theriault recorded a sack in the loss.

CURE-ANTOINE LABELLE WOLVES 26, COLLEGE NOTRE-DAME CACTUS 15:

In the second upset of the week, Daniel Aziz-Skaf and Ryth Jean-Giraud tallied majors as current CFC#28 Cure-Antoine Labelle Wolves got by CFC#19 College Notre-Dame 26-15.

Pivot Mathieu Blier-Tremblay had nine completions in 13 attempts and a rushing touchdown in the victory.

Once again, Kean Harilemana was in beast mode as he racked up 13 tackles (12 solo, one assisted).  Marc Darley Casseus recorded two sacks while Luc-Ralph Lazarre added one.

With the win, the Wolves are tied for second place in the standings with a 5-3 record.  The Cactus is now in a three way tie for first with a 6-2 record.

Francois Rocheleau amassed 119 rushing yards on 15 carries and one rushing touchdown for the Cactus.  Additionally, Thomas Charles Paradis ran into the end zone for a major while Joel Bouchard had 107 rushing yards.

Defensively, Bruno Lagace had a huge day for the unit as he registered 14.5 tackles (eight solo, 13 assisted) and recorded a sack.  Nicolas Prince chipped in with 13 tackles (nine solo, eight assisted) while Julien Le Guéhennec added 12 tackles (nine solo, six assisted) and a sack. Moreover, Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal and Arthur Loth-Duperre each recorded sacks for the Cactus.

SAINT-JEAN EUDES CONDORS 49, JACQUES-ROUSSEAU 21:

Gabriel Brault scored three touchdowns and rushed for 267 yards on 20 carries (average of 26.7 yards per carry) to power CFC#35 Saint-Jean Eudes Condors to a 49-21 victory over Jacques-Rousseau.

Pascal Audet also tallied a major.  Quarterback David Pelletier had 10 completions for 18 attempts for 126 passing yards, one passing touchdown and one interception.

The Condors are now in a second place tie in the standings with a 5-3 record.  Meanwhile, Jacques-Rousseau remains winless this season with a 0-8 mark.

Yakim Sarrazin had the lone touchdowns for Jacques-Rousseau and rushed for 118 yards.  Marco Filipe led the defense with 10 tackles (eight solo, four assisted).

ACADEMIE LES ESTACADES 47, TRIOLET HARFANGS 18:

Alexandre Gauilloux tallied three majors and amassed 177 receiving yards on three catches (average of 59 yards per catch) as current CFC#41 Academie Les Estacades cruised by Triolet Harfangs 47-18.

Antoine Mailhot, Felix Legers and Francis Blais all scored touchdowns in the win.   Pivot William Garceau had seven completions in 11 attempts for 209 passing yards and three passing touchdowns for Les Estacades.

Tchad Ayotte could not be contained on defense as he racked up 17.5 tackles (14 solo, seven assisted).  Alexandre Arseneault and Kelsey Fontaine each recorded a sack while Alec Beliveau caught an interception for the victors.

Les Estacades are tied for third place in the standings with an even 4-4 record.  The Harfangs slide to 1-7 on the season with the defeat.

Gabriel Boudreau tallied a major and rushed for 126 passing yards for the Harfangs while Gabriel Goudreau also scored and had 64 receiving yards on four catches (an average of 16 yards per catch).  On defense, Mathieu Parent recorded a sack.

ROGER COMTOIS 54, COLLEGE JEAN-EUDES 21:

Christophe Tremblay-Harnois and Jonathan Bradet were on an offensive tear as Roger Comtois upset College Jean-Eudes 54-21.

Tremblay Harnois scored four rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown, 159 rushing yards and 112 receiving yards on seven catches (average of 16 yards per catch).  Bradet had 16 completions in 26 attempts for 283 passing yards, one passing touchdown, one interception and three rushing touchdowns.

Anthony Mennesson led Roger Comtois’ defense with 10.5 tackles (nine solo, three assisted).    Olivier Fortin recorded two sacks while Marc-Olivier Paul Gros-Louis, Lam-Dut-Hoa Ngo and Felix Maine all added single sacks. Thomas Chiavon and Samuel Verrault each caught interceptions in the win.

Roger Comtois improve to 3-5 on the season while College Jean-Eudes slide to a 4-4 record.

Philippe Seveno scored two majors while Dean Dalaroy tallied a major and rushed for 127 rushing yards.  Pivot Zacharie Quiviger had 28 completions in 42 attempts for 250 passing yards for College Jean-Eudes.

Defensively, Gabriel Boucher registered 10 tackles (six solo, eight assisted) while Vincent Morrisette caught an interception in the loss.
