RSEQ: Rotrand Sené, Emmanuel Thériault and Boris Bede named players of the week

Montreal, October 17, 2011 – Rotrand Sené of the University of Montreal Carabins, Emmanuel Thériault of the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or and Boris Bede of the Laval University Rouge et Or have been selected as the RSEQ university football league’s players of the week for the period ending October 16th, 2011.


Offence

Highlights : Rotrand Sené of the Montreal Carabins is the RSEQ offensive player of the week following a 160-yard, 20 carry performance in the Carabins’ 33-18 win over the McGill Redmen. Averaging 8-yards per carry, the third year Arts & Sciences student broke open a 59-yard run that led to a critical third quarter touchdown putting les Bleus up 27-5. Sené currently leads the Carabins with 101 carries and 526 running yards. He’s also second in all of RSEQ in these categories.

Highlights: Emmanuel Theriault of the Sherbrooke Vert & Or is the RSEQ defensive player of the week after recording 5.5 tackles, including three quarterback sacks in Sherbrooke’s 31-11 win over the Concordia Stingers. The defensive lineman finished the game with four tackles for losses, inflicting a total of lost 27-yards. Theriault leads his team in sacks with 4.5 this season totalling 34 total yards en route to helping the Vert & Or to an all-time best 6-1 record.

Boris Bede

Former team: St.Mary’s Catholic SS

Highlights: Boris Bede of the Laval Rouge et Or is the RSEQ special teams player of the week. The kicker went four-for-five on field goals (17, 30, 27 and 33 yards) in his team’s 57-9 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters in addition to converting six touchdowns en route to a 19-point day. The Business student also punted the ball five times for 188 yards and kicked seven kick-offs for a total of 435 yards. Since the beginning of the season, the Toulon, France native completed nine field goals on 11 attempts.
