RSEQ university football league Reid Quest, Max Caron and Boris Bédé named players of the week

Montreal, October 31, 2011 – Quarterback Reid Quest of the Concordia Stingers, linebacker Max Caron of the Concordia Stingers and kicker Boris Bédé of the Laval University Rouge et Or, have been selected as the RSEQ university football league’s players of the week for the period ending October 30th, 2011.


Offence

Highlights : Reid Quest is the RSEQ’s Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Concordia Stingers clinch the final playoff spot with 23 completed passes on 31 attempts for 356 yards. Leading 20-17 at the half, the Stingers exploded in the third quarter on their way to a 58-30 victory over the McGill Redmen. Quest threw four touchdown passes in this quarter for a total of five during that game. The Regina-born athlete was sacked once, but did not throw an interception.

Reid closes the season with 118 completed passes on 192 attempts for 1548 yards and 11 touchdown passes. The Political Science student ranks second in RSEQ for completed passes percentage.

Age: 22 years old

Highlights : For the third time this year, Max Caron is the Defensive Player of the Week. The linebacker intercepted two passes including one he carried on 96 yards for a touchdown in this team’s win over the Redmen. The Stingers will now face the Laval Rouge et Or in RSEQ Playoffs’ semi-finals.

Max also completed six solo tackles and a pair of assisted tackles for a total of seven. This brought him above the 2001 record of 77 tackles achieved by Mike Mahoney in 2001. The new record (78.5) is the top amount of tackles across CIS this season. The Kingston , Ontario native also set a new mark for the most touchdowns scored on interceptions in one season (3) and in career (4). Max concludes a great season by topping CIS with 67 solo tackles and five interceptions.

Boris Bédé

Kicker

Home town: Toulon, France

Age: 21 years old

Weight: 210 pounds

Former team: Tiffin Université

Highlights : Boris Bédé is RSEQ’s Special Teams Player of the Week. The Toulon, France native kicked a 10-yard field goal, four converts and a pair of singles in the Rouge et Or’s 37-15 win over the Bishop’s Gaiters. The victory enabled Glen Constantin’s men to close the season with a 8-1 record.

The kicker picked up 265 yards on eight punts and 340 yards on five kickoffs. In nine games this season, Boris completed 11 field goals on 16 attempts (68.8%). The Business student placed second in RSEQ this season with a production of 72 points.
