Safety Jourdain Alexis to join Stingers in January

Concordia head coach Gerry McGrath is pleased to announce Jourdain Alexis, a top safety in the Quebec CEGEP ranks, has signed a letter of intent to play for Stingers football program.

β€œHe is one of the premier DBs in the CEGEP AAA league,” said McGrath. β€œI’m very pleased to have him with our program. He is a great all-round athlete and he’s from my hometown – Point St. Charles, the greatest place in the world.”

Alexis, who currently plays for the Collège Édouard-Montpetit Lynx and came out of the Point St. Charles Aces football program, will join the Stingers in January 2012.

β€œHe has great athleticism and good size,” said Concordia recruiting co-ordinator Phil Roberts. β€œHe has the ability to come in and compete right away for a starting job. Because he’s joining the team in January, he’ll be able to do spring ball with us which is great.”

Alexis, who checks in at six foot one, 170 pounds, hopes to compete for the starting safety position which will be open in 2012. Current safety Nicholas Arsenault-Hum plays out his fifth year of eligibility this fall.

β€œI can play anyway the coaches ask me,” Alexis said. β€œI will fit in the system. I can play a technical game and a physical game. I chose Concordia because it has the best coaches. If you want to get better, you have to work with the best coaches.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
