As Assistant Coach, Football, you play a key role in building on Saint Mary’s football history of excellence in university athletic competition. You will be responsible for continuing the winning tradition while securing the respect, participation and collaboration of all constituents of the University – academia, students, staff, alumni and the broader community.

Under the direction of the Head Coach, Football, the Assistant Coach helps develop and coordinate the Inter-university Men’s Football program so as to create an atmosphere conducive to the positive ethical, academic and athletic growth of student-athletes. The Assistant Coach implements and maintains recruitment strategies with the Head Coach to attract the best student-athletes to the University; and counsels and advises athletes on academic, athletic, career, financial and personal matters.

The Assistant Coach plays a leading role in strength and conditioning training; organizes and conducts practices with the Head Coach and prepares the team for competition; designs and implements training strategies; develops and implements weekly game plans and, remains up to date and applies current AUS/CIS rules and eligibility policies. In addition, the Assistant Coach develops Game Day programs, assists in organizing revenue generating and fundraising events such as The Super Auction and co-ordinates and operates summer camps and clinics.

The assets you ideally possess include a sound track record in athletic and recreation program management and leadership; as well, you will possess an Undergraduate degree, current knowledge of coaching techniques, methodologies and strategies and a minimum three years related experience. You are an outstanding leader with superb interpersonal skills; have an ability to build strong positive relationships with internal and external constituents; and an aptitude to demonstrate vision, inspire confidence, encourage participation, and instill enthusiasm for institutional and personal professional goals. Finally, you will have a love of athletics and recreation and a passion for winning.
