Saint Mary’s bound (VIDEO)

Hamilton offensive lineman joins AUS team’s 2014 class.

Chris Doucette wanted to be part of the family that greeted him upon his official visit to Halifax.

Consequently, the 6’3, 290 pound offensive lineman from Hamilton, Ontario has committed to the Saint Mary’s Huskies for the 2014 AUS season.

Additionally, the strength of academics as well as the opportunity to be coached by Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese was too good of an offer to pass up for Doucette.

“I chose Saint Mary’s for many reasons first of all being the family atmosphere that I was shown as soon as I arrived; being on campus and around the team made me feel like I had been there for years already,” explained the Hamilton offensive lineman of his decision.  “Coach Perry (Marchese) is a great coach, having CFL experience and I believe it will help me improve my game from someone that has been there and coached at the next level already.”

“Academics are the biggest part of a university and Saint Mary’s seemed to be the best fit for me, having a small class and more one on one time with professors will help me improve as a student and give me full understanding on the subjects. Under Coach Perry, the team has improved every year and I want to be a part of that success that coach is showing on the football field with his improving record.”

Chris Doucette 2

Doucette joins the Huskies after playing for Cardinal Newman Cardinals of the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic Athletic Association (HWCAA).  In addition to the Cardinals, the lineman also suited up for the Hamilton Hurricanes of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).   Doucette spent one semester at Canada Prep Academy.

The Huskies are thrilled to have Doucette join the fold.

“We are very happy to have Chris join us at Saint Mary’s,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.  “He is a great addition to the family.”
