This weekend the Rochdale Rivalry came to Mosaic Stadium as the Riffel Royals took on the Knoll Badgers in 4-A football action. The two schools are located beside each other on Rochdale Blvd, so there is a long history of rivalries between the two schools. The rivalry was out in full force as both the players and fans came out for an intense game.
The two defenses fought tooth and nail to keep their opponents out of their end zones. The only points scored in the first half were by Riffel. Their first point was a single point for punting the ball out the back and a safety when the Knoll quarterback took a knee in the end zone. Riffel led the game at the half by a score of 3-0.This neither teams defense showed any signs of slowing throughout the third quarter, as it was scoreless. However, midway through the fourth quarter Riffelβs running game began to chip away at the Knoll defense and they scored their first touchdown. Shortly after Riffel was able to score again cementing their 17-0 win over their rivals from Knoll. In other Regina 4-A action Campbell beat Thom 52-22; Balfour beat Greenall 67-3; and LeBoldus beat Sheldon 36-19.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
