Saskatchewan Huskies welcome local recruit to pack

Huskies 2017 class grows by one more.

It has been said that home is where the heart is, and Reise Upton, an offensive lineman from Bethlehem Catholic High School, will be keeping his heart local after committing to the Saskatchewan Huskies.

Hailing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Upton said, “I committed because it’s always been my dream to be a Huskie and to play university football in my hometown.” The 6’3, 279lbs lineman has suited up as both a tackle or guard in his four-year career. He spent three seasons playing on the Bethlehem Senior team (Saskatoon Secondary Schools Athletics Directorate) and one with the junior team.

The young football player is also impressed with the team’s coaching staff. He said, “I feel they have a top-notch staff that care a lot, mostly because they are all former huskie players.”

In his short career, Upton was recognized as Bethlehem’s most outstanding lineman in grade ten. This season, he was named as the team’s MVP. When he reaches the Huskies ranks, he said he is going to be starting off in arts and sciences and then will eventually gear his studies towards a business degree.
