Local Tim Hortons Franchisee Craig Holub – who initiated the talks between the SMFA and Tim Hortons feels that “this is great opportunity for our local Tim Hortons owners who include, Rick MacLeod, Monica McNally, Dick and Emily Brownlee and my wife Nicole and I to become involved in another grassroots minor sports program here in the city. Last year in Sault Ste. Marie we saw participation, excitement and success at all levels of amateur football. Starting in just a few weeks, kids in our community can now start playing minor football in the Timbits Division of S.M.F.A. and hopefully continue playing and enjoying the game of football for many years to come”.

Sault Minor Football Association President Ryan Lillington is excited about the relationship “We are thrilled to have Craig and Tim Hortons on board as a major sponsor. Our Association takes pride in providing a better product year after year and this relationship is going to help us do that in the years to come.”

The Sault Minor Football Association was formed in 1997 with a mandate of providing football to youth in our Community. The Association has flourished into a League with 3 Divisions, over 12 teams, and 300 players. The hard work and dedication of many local volunteers has created a League that not only teaches football skills – but more importantly – Life Skills – including teamwork, commitment, and perseverance.

Trevor Zachary – Founder and Past-President of the SMFA states “It’s easy to see what the success of the Timbits Program has done for Minor Hockey in Canada and it could be colossal to see what this relationship will do for the Sault Minor Football Association, one of Ontario’s finest Minor Football Programs!

Registration for the upcoming season is still open in all divisions. You can download a registration form at saultminorfootball.com or you can pick one up at City Hall. The season starts June 6th so send it in as soon as possible! See you at the field!!!!
