Slotback Michael Schaper of the Vancouver Island Raiders has been awarded the 2011 Wally Buono Award. The 6-4, 200-pound Nanaimo athlete, who is a Bachelor of Arts student at Vancouver Island University, was named the winner of the award for his leadership and superb play in the eight-team B.C. Football Conference.
He has been a BCFC & CJFL all-star. “Great hands, good body control and a tremendous ability to leap and make the big catch,” said Lions VP of football operations and GM Wally Buono in revealing the winner.
