During a game this spring, the Scorpions receiver tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

However, Javon is not allowing his injury to deter him from getting back on the field.

“My plan for this summer is to strengthen my leg as much as possible before surgery” says Javon. “After surgery I plan to get back into shape and come back 100 percent”.

The highlight of Javon’s football career came last season as the Eastman Raiders defeated the Interlake Thunder. Javon was called upon to play defensive end as well as receiver.  The Scorpions’ standout led his team to a victory over their rivals.

Family has always played an important role in Javon’s life on and off the field.

“The most influential people in my life are my parents because they’ve kept me on a good path and always supported me,” says the Scorpions’ receiver, “I come from a big family so money is always tight but they do what they can for me”.

For Javon, his aspirations reach beyond the gridiron. The Scorpions’ senior, who is bilingual, hopes to land a career in athletic psychology.

“I’ve looked into becoming a psychologist, and have been considering the possibilities of the field, such as an athletic psychologist helping athletes of all levels suffering from mental disorders such as anxiety, and depression,” adds Javon.

The Scorpions receiver hopes to pursue his academic goals while continuing to play the game he loves.

“I haven’t had any offers from CIS schools but some that I’d prefer are the University of Manitoba and the University of Calgary,” says Javon. “The coach at University of Manitoba had asked me about myself and school, and even proposed a meeting to discuss future plans for school and football.”
