Newmarket, Ontario standout embarks on journey south of the border next week.

The new year will mark a new beginning for a CFC TOP 100 standout from Newmarket, Ontario.

Kaleb Scott is the latest player to verbally commit to an NCAA School.Ā  On December 21st, the 6ā€™3, 185 pound quarterback/athlete accepted an offer from Canton, Ohio Division 2 team, Malone Pioneers.

While many CIS and NCAA schools were in the mix, Scottā€™s final deliberations were between the Pioneers and National Association of Intercollege Athletics (NAIA) team, Peru State in Nebraska.Ā  Ultimately, the Canton, Ohio school won out.

Scott joins the Pioneers after completing a successful high school career with Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA).Ā  Most recently, he led the Warriors to a second straight OFSAA Bowl Championship by amassing 322 rushing yards and scoring three majors (including a 99 yard touchdown score) in a 29-9 victory over London Central Crusaders.

In the 2012 season, Scott set a team record with 1371 rushing yards on 100 carries and tallying 20 majors in 10 games. At the quarterback position, he had 32 completions in 64 attempts for 825 passing yards and 12 passing touchdowns.

For his efforts on the field, the Newmarket standout was selected as the YRAA MVP twice during his career.

Moreover, Scott represented his home province as a member of Team Ontario East at the 2012 Football Canada Cup in London, Ontario.

The Newmarket standout will fit in well with the Pioneers.Ā  He is familiar with the triple run option that the NCAA Division two team plays by virtue of playing a similar system with the Warriors.

Scott begins the next chapter of his gridiron and academic life at Malone next week as he will begin his studies in kinesiology while preparing for the fall season with the Pioneers.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
