Sherbrooke’s AndrΓ© Bolduc resigns after winning conference coach of the year

After five seasons at the helm of the football team at the University of Sherbrooke, AndrΓ© Bolduc decided not to seek a contract extension. This decision is mainly motivated by family reasons.

“My family was a factor in my decision,” said Bolduc, who coached since 2007. “I want to spend more time with my children, and I could not do this by remaining coach. My successor will almost certainly spend more time then me in managing the program and enable the Vert & Or take the final steps that separate the top.”

“I consider myself blessed to be able to do this job I am passionate about all these years,” he added.

AndrΓ© Bolduc claims to have long thought about his future with his wife and his children before making a final decision. He believes that the arrival of a new head coach will bring different perspectives to the football program Sherbrooke.

“It is with sadness that we learned of the decision of Andre, but we must respect it,” said Christian Gagnon, General Manager of Service and Sport and Physical Activity, University of Sherbrooke and a member of the Board Directors of the Corporation-sport studies. “The job of head coach is very addictive and requires a lot of sacrifices. We wish him to live happy moments with his family and the greatest success in his future endeavors. ”

“Andre has worked so hard to change the football program Vert & Or he will always deserve our gratitude,” said Alain Lapointe for his part, program coordinator of football Vert & Or

Father of four young children, AndrΓ© Bolduc was named coach of the year in Quebec in 2011. He left the organization with an excellent record of 24 wins against 18 losses during the regular season, two wins in exhibition games, and one win and three losses in the playoffs.

Led by a former player for the Montreal Alouettes, Vert et or has become a top team in Quebec, including having twelve of its members elected in the first-team allstar team over the last two seasons (six in 2010 and six in 2011). Its highest feat of will obviously have been the Dunsmore Cup final in 2010.

Both the Corporation-sport studies and the University of Sherbrooke want to fill this position as quickly as possible.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
