Oakville cornerback recently commits to OUA team’s 2014 class.

Airgama Abaya has been impressed with the positive direction one CIS team is heading towards.

Consequently, the 5ā€™11, 170 pound cornerback from Oakville, Ontario has signed with the York Lions for 2014 OUA season.

ā€œI chose York because it had a really good kinesiology program and I wanted to go to a school where it was possible for me to commit to and from school,ā€ explained Abaya of his decision.Ā  ā€œI’m excited to be a part of the football team, they’re getting better every year and they’re doing everything they must to become a winning team.ā€

ā€œI’m ready to work and earn my place as a Lion.ā€

Abaya comes to the Lions after completing his high school career with St. Ignatius of Loyola Hawks of the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA). This past season, he caught four interceptions, including one which he returned for a touchdown.

In addition to the Hawks, the defensive standout suited up for the Halton Cowboys of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).Ā  In the 2013 season with the Cowboys, Abaya caught four interceptions.
