Six recruits join Queen’s, Gaels announce preseason tilt with Concordia

KINGSTON, Ont.Β  – Queen’s football head coachΒ Pat SheahanΒ is pleased to announce the signing of six top recruits to the 2014 recruiting class for the Gaels football program.

Joining Queen’s are defensive back/linebacker James Donald (Montreal), wide receiver Matteo Del Brocco (Leamington, Ont.), defensive back/receiver Nicholas Fraser-Greene (Mississauga, Ont.), defensive end Trevor McGarrity (Clarington, Ont.), running back Brad Inniss (Toronto) and offensive lineman Nikolai Gratton (Hamilton, Ont.).

“Some outstanding young men are joining the Queen’s Football program today,” said head coachΒ Pat Sheahan. “We have some leaders, physical football players and great students among us toay as well who will continue these pursuits with the Gaels.”

The Queen’s football team is also proud to announce that they will be hosting an exhibition game at Richardson Stadium onΒ Sunday August 24 at 1pmΒ against the Concordia Stingers of the RSEQ conference. Queen’s and Concordia last met on October 28, 2000 where the Stingers won 30-27 at Concordia while the Gaels last hosted Concordia in 1999 onΒ September 25Β in a game Concordia won 30-17. The two teams have an all-time record of 15-15 against one another.

Tickets to the game will be provided free as part of any previously purchased season ticket packages or with season tickets purchased beforeΒ July 31. Single game tickets will be available afterJuly 31Β for $5 to the general public.

The Queen’s football Gaels begin their regular season on the road when they take on the Windsor Lancers onΒ Monday September 1, 2014. The Gaels then open up their home schedule onSaturday September 6Β against the Ottawa Gee-Gees atΒ 1:00 p.m.Β at Richardson Stadium.

Awards and achievements: Played for the Vanier Cheetahs in CEGEP for three years… Started at both safety and halfback for Vanier… Played with the Lakeshore Cougars before joining the Cheetahs

 

NICHOLAS FRASER-GREENE // DB/WR
Hometown: Mississauga, Ont.
Height: 5’11
Weight: 180 lbs
School: St. Joan of Arc

Awards and achievements: Can line up on both sides of the football… Has the ability to be a kick returner… Long-time teammate of incoming QB Nate Hobbs who both excelled at St. Joan of Arc… Elite contributor to Mississauga Warriors football program

 

BRAD INNISS // RB

Awards and achievements: Can playΒ  both fullback and running back… First player to attend Queen’s and play football from East York Collegiate in over 40 years… Attended Queen’s football Elite Summer Camp

Awards and achievements: Attended Queen’s Elite Lineman camp in 2013 and was named most valuable lineman… Doubled as a tight end for his high school team.
