SMU eligibility complaint still without U Sports ruling

With Saturday’s Loney Bowl date quickly coming up, U Sports has still not ruled on the ineligibility complaint against the St. Mary’s Huskies. The Acadia Axemen are slated to play the Huskies for the Atlantic conference championship.

According to the Chronicle Herald, a hearing was supposed to have happened on Wednesday, however, whether this actually occurred or not has not been disclosed.

The complaint is that Archelaus Jack, a Huskie player, was listed on the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ practice roster with a release date of Oct. 11, 2016. U Sports eligibility rules states that a player can play if they are no longer on a CFL practice roster after Aug. 15. Once this date has passed, they cannot participate in competition for a calendar year.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
