SMU Huskies head coach Steve Sumarah fired – 50% new CIS HCs in 1 1/2 years


St. Mary’s head coach Steve Sumarah has been relieved of his duties as Head Coach of the Halifax university football team. His contract which expires in March will not be renewed, the university reported today.

His team finished the 2011 regular season 6 and 2 and lost in the AUS finals to Acadia. Steve had a 29 win and 12 loss regular season record and 4 and 3 in AUS finals. Steve is from Halifax and was the first Nova Scotia born Head Coach in the CIS.

In less than 1 1/2 years there has been a 50% turnover of CIS head coaches.
