SMU lands Toronto recruit (VIDEO)

Toronto defensive end joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

Saint Mary’s Huskies have announced the addition of Michael Corbeil to their football program.

The 6’5, 235 pound defensive end from Toronto, Ontario will join the Huskies for the 2015 AUS season.

“We are extremely happy to have Michael join our football family,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.

Corbeil has previously played for both Malvern Black Knights of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) and Scarborough Thunder of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

During his career, the defensive standout has received several honours including OVFL ALL Star (2013) and Black Knights Team Captain. Moreover, he made to the Ontario Prospect Challenge Top 40 and also runs a 4.85 40 Yard Dash.

After his commitment, Corbeil issued the following statement:

“I’m very happy to be joining the Saint Mary’s Huskies Family. I feel extremely confident that SMU is the right fit for me. I really wanted a University with small class sizes, and a great business program.”

“I’m thrilled to be studying Commerce, and appreciate that SMU students have two years within the program before having to select a major. I know that this format alone will allow me to make an informed decision for my specific career path within Commerce. “

“As far as the football, Coach Marchese made me feel like I will be a valuable asset to the team from the get go. I accept this challenge; while at the same time acknowledge that I still have a lot of work that needs to be done. I could not be more excited about the work that lies ahead and the results that this team will achieve.”

“On my visit, I really clicked with all of the players and coaches, and could see myself being a part of SMU. I’m also excited to live in Halifax while pursuing my undergrad.”
