Sooners fall to Beefs

The four way log jam at the top of the OFC standings is gone. But it has now migrated to second place with three teams tied.

The London Beefeaters were responsible in part as they defeated the defending OFC champions 21-10 at Keith Harris Stadium in Ottawa. The Sooners led 10-8 at half time but the Beefs scored 13 unanswered second half points for the road victory. London’s record is now 3-4 while Ottawa sits at 4-3.

In St Leonard the Hamilton Hurricanes held a 10-7 half time lead. With a couple seconds left on the clock the Cougars kicked the game winning field goal for a 18-17 victory and first place all alone with a 5-2 record. The Hurricanes are tied with Ottawa at 4-3.

The Windsor AKO Fratmen kept their playoff hopes alive with a 47-20 victory over the visiting Brampton Bears. The Fratmen are 3-3 with two games left against teams ahead of them, Hamilton and Burlington. Both on the road.

The Burlington Braves remain at 4-2 as they had a bye week.

Next Saturday night the Brampton Bears now 0-6 host the Ottawa Sooners at St Marcellinus Secondary School at 7:00 pm. The other evening game is at Central Field in St Leonard as the Cougars host the Braves at 7:00 pm. Windsor will travel to McRae Fields in Rockton to face the Hamilton Hurricanes at 4:00 pm. Ivor Wynne Stadium is not available.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
