Spartans announce new head coach

The Sudbury Spartans are pleased to announce Kim “Junior” Labrosse as the new Head Coach of the Sudbury Spartans football club.

Kim Labrosse has been a member of the Spartan community since 1987 and has served the team as a player, coach and executive member.

Labrosse has served as Vice -President on the Spartan executive since 2007 and was instrumental in bringing the Spartans back into the Northern Football Conference during the 2011 season.

Like many local coaches – Labrosse got his coaching start in the Joe MacDonald Youth Football league and from there to the High School ranks where he currently serves as Head Coach of the St. Benedict Bears.  His coaching resume is exactly what the Spartans were looking for in a coach.  And after serving as Defensive Coordinator last season, the transition to Head Coach will be a smooth one.

Spartan president Gord Goddard is excited to have Junior at the helm “Junior has been around coaching football for nearly 30 years – he’s been part of winning programs at every level he’s coached.  Last season, Junior served as acting Head Coach for a few games and the tryout was successful – he’s a Spartan through and through”.

Labrosse is best known for wearing #26 for the Silver and Blue on the gridiron.  He was inducted into the NFC Hall of Fame in 2010. When he hung up the cleats he was the all-time Spartan interception leader he ranks second in career interceptions in NFC history.

The Spartans 2014 Training Camp kicks off Saturday April 26th.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
