Spring Camp 2010 # 2

his weeks training camp didn’t start the way the team would have hoped for. With a couple of injuries to the team the tempo was definitely not up to our standards. After practice on Mondays I have taken up yoga classes with some of the guys on the team. Yoga is no joke, having to hold my body in certain positions has been proven more challenging than expected. I leave the class sweating buckets, but I feel limber, and loose.

Wednesdays I find to be the most difficult day to get out of bed and keep it going, others on the team would agree but despite this the tempo on Wednesday practice was really high. The competiveness in practice has reached its highest point this whole spring season. As usual the receivers and DB’s have what I call a “friendly beef”, I hate you during practice but its all for the sport not actuality. No matter how heated things may get, and I must say they get real heated sometimes it’s never a problem once were all in the locker room. That’s one thing I love about here team camaraderie is great. We all push each other to the limit which in tail makes us better.

Thursday I had a great time with kicker Luca Congi from the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Congi was in the stinger dome kicking, fellow teammates Kevin Prempeh, Dimitru Ionita, the Head Coach Jerry McGrath, and I were there as well. Congi was just telling us about life in the CFL, the grey cup. Once again another solid week of camp in the books. On Saturday a couple of my teammates and I were given the opportunity to help some kids craft their football skills. Kyle Smith, another defensive back and I taught the kids some DB techniques. It was a great experience, to see kids at such a young age have the same enthusiasm, and joy in the sport that I love so much. The experience left me recalling how I was once them, and how I still hold that driving passion to better myself, and my skills. Thats all until next week…
