Lords Head Coach retires

Bob Stacey

2013 was the final season for Coach Bob Stacey on the sidelines with the Red & Gold after nearly 30 years with the program. Stacey led Nelson to two Metro Bowl football titles (1997, 1999) two Golden Horseshoe Bowl football titles (2005, 2011) and in between, took the 2001 basketball team to an all-Ontario high school championship, beating Notre Dame in an all-Burlington final in Hamilton. His career is well documented and he leaves as one of the most decorated coaches in Canadian High School Athletics.

The 55 year old Stacey has coached many players that have moved on to successful careers beyond the high school level.  Those include Western Mustangs quarterback Will Finch, former St. Mary’s Huskies quarterback Jay Currie, former Guelph Gryphons player Zack Stacey, McMaster Marauders Offensive Coordinator Jon Behie, former CFL player Jesse Lumsden, Carleton Ravens Defensive Coordinator Ryan Bechmanis (part of the 2009 Queen’s Golden Gaels Vanier Cup Champions), McMaster Marauders Head Coach Stefan Ptaszek, former Toronto Argonauts defensive tackle Chuck Walsh (won Grey Cup with team in 2004), former CFL player Chris Gioskos (won Grey Cup in 1997) and Queen’s Golden Gaels wide receiver Doug Corby.

Coach Stacey will remain involved with the program as an ambassador for alumni relations. Jeff Brock will take over as the Lords Head Coach beginning with the 2014 Spring Camp which opens on Monday June 9th.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
