Standout Okanagan Sun REC now with UBC

UBC welcomes a CJFLer to their team.

Lliam Wishart, a receiver from the Okanagan Sun (BCFC) was born and raised surrounded by mountains, but now he will be leaving the interior to fly with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds from their nest on the Pacific coast.

“I chose to commit to UBC because it was the best option for me, an option I couldn’t pass up,” the product of Kamloops, BC, said. “The opportunity to play football close to home, at one of the best school with one of the best teams, is amazing. I’ve always loved Vancouver and the timing felt great for me to make the jump to the U Sports level.”

Prior to his three years in the CJFL with the Sun, he played four years with the Valleyview Vikings in the BC High School Football Association. The 6’2, 195lbs athlete knows the pedigree of the coaches he will soon be playing for. “(They’re) some of the best coaches in the game and no one quite like Head Coach Nill,” Wishart said.

The 2016 Okanagan Sun receiver of the year is unsure as to what program he will be taking. His plan is to begin in the arts and perhaps switch to criminology or business down the road.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
