Kyle Moortgat

Cochrane slotback commits to CWUAA team.

After getting over the intimidation he felt during an official visit to one CWUAA school, Kyle Moortgat realized he found his new gridiron home.

As a result, the 6ā€™1, 170 pound slotback from Cochrane, Alberta committed to the University of Regina Rams.Ā  Moortgat will join the team for the 2014 CWUAA season.

ā€œWhen I first got there I was pretty intimidated by the team, but after a while of getting to know the players and coaching staff, I Ā realizedĀ  that they were all a bunch of really nice players and made me feel like I Ā was a part of the family that they already had,ā€ recalled Moortgat.Ā  ā€œAnother reason, I chose this school is because the Regina Rams have a smaller roster than most schools, so it gives me a really good chance to fight for a starting spot in my first or second year which I would really like to do.ā€

Moortgat comes to the Rams after completing his high school career with Cochrane Cobras of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). In nine games during the 2013, the Alberta slotback amassed 1730 yards and scored 27 touchdowns (1366 receiving yards on 61 receptions for an average of 22.4 yards per catch and 24 touchdowns as well as 364 rushing yards on 18 carries for an average of 20.2 yards per carry and three rushing touchdowns).
