After his commitment, Stewart issued the following statement to CanadaFootballChat.com:

“I chose to pursue an education at St. Francis Xavier for a multitude of reasons.”

“The school spirit that became evident during my time on campus created an irresistible atmosphere that I knew I had to be a part of. The various residences and their storied traditions, allies and rivalries just add to the culture that has been developed throughout St. FX’s history.”

“Academically, the Schwartz School of Business offers a very unique and diverse program. The emphasis on giving students both a broad understanding of multiple business streams as well as a more refined and in depth understanding of whichever major you may select.”

“The Dean of the business program took time out of his day to meet with me and my family to talk us through the programs they offer and how a BBA from StFX is unique from business programs offered by any other school. StFX also offers something no other school can, the prestigious X-Ring.”

“In addition to the strong academic program a StFX, the sincere welcome I received, from all levels of the StFX administration and staff, the coaches and right down to potential teammates contributed to my decision. The sense of ‘family’ I experienced from both Coach [Gary] Waterman and Coach [Steve] Snyder as well as the rest of the coaching staff felt right.”

“With the winning program they have implemented over the past few seasons, it is clear that they have developed a plan and mindset to strive for success. I believe they have the pieces in place to do some serious damage in the coming seasons as defending Loney Bowl Champions.”

“It’s definitely an exciting time to be joining the X-Men with the rest of my recruiting class and I can’t wait to get to work for the coming season.”
