Support needed for alberta 6-man team

The FMHS Warriors are still a recent addition to the newly formed Western Alberta 6-man Football League. The program began three years ago with much anticipation and hype. The high school had been craving a football team for years and thanks to a number of generous donations, the team began its inaugural season in the fall of 2007.

Let’s talk a moment about hype — it has extreme power — it captures interest, creates excitement and makes people do things. The Warriors and their supporters therefore desire to order up some hype! Problem: hype is not something you can buy off a shelf-you need to create it. Once created, the rest takes care of itself. Sometimes simply starting and maintaining a tradition at a great venue can start the process. True hype will be achieved once word of mouth takes over and you can consistently deliver the expected product.

Let’s pull together and get behind our Warriors. Let’s get hyped up about the 2011 season! The Warriors football team will obviously represent the school, but its supporters view it as Drayton Valleys’ football team. We have a tremendous head coach in Tim Richholt, he brings valuable expertise to this team, as he was raised in and played in a “football town” in the USA. We have all watched countless blockbuster films on football in the States. It can pull a town together; a good year of football can mean a good year at school. We have dedicated coaches; we have the cheerleaders, and definitely have players with talent. The key is getting the support to build a program with longevity.

Due to the fact that football involves specialized equipment and facilities that were never thought of during the construction of the school, the football team is in constant need of donations to help offset the financial cost to the players. Although affiliated with Frank Maddock High School, they are entirely funded by way of player fees and community donations. Fundraising has started and we need your help. We are appealing to this warm, welcoming, generous community and the “warrior’ in each of you to become a hero to this phenomenal team. In appreciation of support the team commits to play in a respectful manner that its sponsors can be proud to sponsor. Recognition will be announced in various ways throughout the season, both visually and verbally. There are just so many ways you can help. Please contact Tim Richholt with your support at the school at 780-542-4401, or email [email][email protected]

All practices are open to the public and free to attend.

The season will start the last week in August; we look forward to seeing you there.
